A visiting doctor is a doctor who is allowed to work in Germany without a European approval or work permission, provided that he has earned a medical degree successfully.

The guest doctor activity is paid and is confined to the enhancement of experience. The guest doctor is voluntarily given.

The permission for hosting as guest doctor must be given by the respective chief doctor of the department. Even the time frame depends on the hospital and the authorities.

German language skills are not mandatory, but certainly an advantage, although in many hospitals English language skills suffice.
